Please read Obama’s tax plan, you will know what he is doing:
Barack Obama’s tax plan is the opposite of supply-side economics. He proposes to raise marginal rates for just about every federal tax. He also proposes a raft of tax credits that taxpayers can receive if they engage in various government-specified activities.
Moreover, the tax credits would mostly go to those who pay little or nothing in federal income taxes. His trick is to make the tax credits “refundable.” Thus, if the tax credit is for $1,000, but the taxpayer would otherwise only pay $200 in taxes, the government would write a check to the taxpayer for $800. If the taxpayer pays nothing in federal income taxes, the government would pay him the whole $1,000.

A great nation requires great leaders and great leaders are nourished on great thoughts. The smallness of the McCain campaign, give real Americans good reason not to vote Republican.
Sad emails sent by some McCain followers show the Republican Party has so degenerated it now has to rely on empty headed gobbledygook to get voters who can’t see through it to vote against their own best interests.
America is basically a conservative nation; but apart from the campaign trail, the Republican Party no longer represents what real conservatism is about. At election time, Republicans babble on about fiscal responsibility, strong national defense, and respect for the US constitution; but when do they deliver?

If the United States is to remain a great nation, Free Speech must be held high. It is the light by which democracy finds its way. This profound contribution to the success of our nation and an enlightenment of the human condition, coming only through centuries of struggle, is one of the crowning achievements of civilization and surest supports.
As long as the small and narrow remains a common denominator in human society, it will remain under threat. It is appreciation of the ability that free speech has to ennoble that is itself, the evidence of greatness and means by which we are conducted to the wide vistas that are the human heritage.

From my reading of counter terrorism experts and former CIA agents, I see little reason to doubt Pulitzer Prize winning author, Ron Suskind, and his report that sources within the Central Intelligence Agency believe Osama bin Laden successfully sought to manipulate the otherwise close ’04 Presidential race to George W. ‘The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right?
The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just ain’t happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ‘What are we so unhappy about?”
A.. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?
B.. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?

We received the following email and thought it was so important that we had to share. Actually it proved to be an article written by Joseph Nye and published on Oct 15, 2008 at FT.com. It is so important, that we thought American people should be aware, and get not sidetracked before the elections.
Americans are transfixed by the aftermath of the September surprise in financial markets. Could there be a very different surprise coming in October?
The public thinks Democrats do better on economic issues, and the financial crisis erased the bounce in the polls that John McCain received from the Republican convention. After the second presidential debate, Mr Obama widened his lead, but dangers remain. Polls show that Republicans do better on the issue of terrorism. Last June, McCain adviser Charlie Black was reprimanded for having the temerity to point out that the intrusion of a terrorist event into the campaign would “certainly be a big advantage” for Mr McCain. Mr Black may have been politically incorrect but an objective analysis suggests he might be right.

We do not have any documentation that can support its accuracy and one may claim that the list below is not accurate, since several of the titles listed, most notably the Harry Potter books, had not been published yet in 1996 when Sarah Palin attempted to fire the librarian. According to New York Times, “Shortly after becoming mayor, former city officials and Wasilla residents said, Ms. Palin approached the town librarian about the possibility of banning some books, though she never followed through and it was unclear which books or passages were in question…. The librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, pledged to “resist all efforts at censorship,” Ms. Kilkenny recalled. Ms. Palin fired Ms. Emmons but changed course after residents made a strong show of support… Once in office, Ms. Palin asked many of Mr. Stein’s backers to resign — something virtually unheard of in Wasilla in past elections. The public works director, city planner, museum director and others were forced out. The police chief, Irl Stambaugh, was later fired outright.”

Our 44th President takes the oath of office. There was a trivial, momentary slip when Chief Justice John Roberts asked Obama to recite the first line of the oath in the incorrect order. Roberts said “execute the office of President of the United States faithfully,” rather than “faithfully executive.” The oath reads: “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Obama paused and allowed Roberts to correct himself. My fellow citizens:
I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.
Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forbearers, and true to our founding documents.

Obama Warns of Prospect for Trillion-Dollar Deficits “for Years to Come”
Slowing tax revenues and a historic bailout of the U.S. financial system will send the budget deficit soaring toward $1 trillion this year, President-elect Barack Obama said on 01-06-09, and the red ink stands to get substantially deeper if Obama wins approval of a massive economic stimulus plan.
Even if the package of spending and tax cuts helps restore the nation’s immediate economic health, Obama said, the government is likely to be left with “trillion-dollar deficits for years to come” unless policymakers “make a change in the way that Washington does business.”
“We’re going to have to stop talking about budget reform. We’re going to have to totally embrace it. It’s an absolute necessity,” the president-elect told reporters a day before the Congressional Budget Office is set to release its outlook for the coming year.
When President Bill Clinton left office in January of 2001 the federal budget was balanced. Now, after eight years of George W. Bush and the Republicans, we are faced with a failed economy and years of trillion dollar deficits. Now the National debt is $10.7 trillion (updated January 7, 2009)

In this week’s weekly address, President-elect Barack Obama lays out the challenges that face us in the new year, and his plan for taking them on.
“We need an American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan that not only creates jobs in the short-term but spurs economic growth and competitiveness in the long-term,” he says. “And this plan must be designed in a new way—we can’t just fall into the old Washington habit of throwing money at the problem. We must make strategic investments that will serve as a down payment on our long-term economic future. We must demand vigorous oversight and strict accountability for achieving results. And we must restore fiscal responsibility and make the tough choices so that as the economy recovers, the deficit starts to come down. That is how we will achieve the number one goal of my plan—which is to create three million new jobs, more than eighty percent of them in the private sector.”

As the holiday season comes to end, we are thankful for family and friends and all the blessings that make life worth living. But as we mark the beginning of a new year, we also know that America faces great and growing challenges—challenges that threaten our nation’s economy and our dreams for the future. Nearly two million Americans have lost their jobs this past year—and millions more are working harder in jobs that pay less and come with fewer benefits. For too many families, this new year brings new unease and uncertainty as bills pile up, debts continue to mount and parents worry that their children won’t have the same opportunities they had.

Obama: ‘Person Of The Year’
Time Magazine has named U.S. President-elect Barack Obama as the 2008 “Person of the Year.” Micahael Elliot, editor of Time International, discusses the magazine’s decision. Time said Obama earned its award “for having the confidence to sketch an ambitious future in a gloomy hour.” He showed “the competence that makes Americans hopeful he might pull it off.”
The magazine named four runners-up: Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson; French and current European Union President Nicholas Sarkozy; former Republican vice-presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin; and Zhang Yimou, who organized the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Beijing.
Last year’s winner was Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

Complaint points to clash over Obama adviser

President-elect Obama and Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich clashed over whether to appoint a senior Obama adviser to replace him in the Senate, according to a criminal complaint filed with a federal district court.
The adviser at the center of the dispute appears to have been Valerie Jarrett, whom Obama has tapped to serve as White House senior adviser and assistant to the president for intergovernmental relations and public liaison.
Obama’s advisers declined to give in to Blagojevich’s demands, prompting angry outbursts from the Illinois governor behind the scenes.
Blagojevich in a conversation intercepted by federal agents calls Obama a “motherf—-r” and dismisses Obama’s unwillingness to strike a deal: “F—k him.”

True love knows no limits!
This is the TRUE STORY of 2 men, and the love they shared with the lion they raised named Christian. It was touching to see the BOND that developed between them and the LOVE that had transcended all barriers. Christian was a remarkable lion, obviously very intelligent and loving, and gentle to everyone, both human and animal, but as Christian became too big, he had to be sent to Africa to live as a wild lion.. Would he recognize the two men after a whole year? How would he react having spent one year in the wilderness away from them? Can a bridge be built that encompasses all life?
